A New Chapter of Design Unfolded

The opening brought together designers, creative practitioners, industry professionals, brands, and design enthusiasts to celebrate the start of IDW 2026

Indonesia Design Week (IDW) 2026 officially opened on 18 September 2026 at Townhall, Indonesia Design District (IDD), PIK2, marking the beginning of a ten-day celebration of design, creativity, and cultural exchange.

The opening brought together designers, creative practitioners, industry professionals, brands, and design enthusiasts to celebrate the start of IDW 2026, running from 18–27 September 2026.

A key moment of the opening was the official launch of SaloneSatellite in Indonesia, marking the first time the renowned platform from Salone del Mobile.Milano takes place in the country. The opening was attended by Marva Griffin, Founder and Curator of SaloneSatellite, and Maria Porro, President of Salone del Mobile.Milano, alongside Irene Umar, Vice Minister of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia.

The presence of SaloneSatellite adds an international dimension to this year’s Indonesia Design Week, creating a meeting point between emerging design talents, established creative communities, and the wider global design scene.

With its doors officially open, IDW 2026 sets the stage for ten days of exhibitions, installations, Design Talks, workshops, product launches, and creative activations across Townhall and Indonesia Design District.

More than an opening, the moment marked the beginning of a shared platform for ideas, conversations, and new possibilities — bringing The Collective Culture to life through design.
