IDD Pavilion Showcases “House of Indonesia” at Salone del Mobile 2026 (21–26 April)

From 21 to 26 April 2026, Indonesia Design District (IDD) PIK2 presents the IDD Pavilion at Salone del Mobile in Milan, bringing Indonesia’s design strength to a global audience through the theme House of Indonesia.

The pavilion is designed by Santi Alaysius of Domisilium Studio and curated by Alvin Tjitrowirjo. It combines cultural identity with technical precision, positioning Indonesia as a design partner capable of meeting international standards.

Rather than functioning as a typical product showcase, the IDD Pavilion introduces a collaborative ecosystem under the concept Beyond Making. This approach highlights a shift in how Indonesia is perceived—from a manufacturing base to an integrated design ecosystem where designers, manufacturers, and material experts work together to deliver complete solutions for global hospitality and contract projects.

At the center of the exhibition is Material of Indonesia, which emphasizes the country’s strength in material exploration and craftsmanship. From engineered wood to woven architectural elements and custom metalwork, the showcase demonstrates how Indonesian materials can balance heritage, innovation, and performance while adapting to diverse global needs.

The pavilion is also defined by its curatorial approach. Instead of highlighting individual brands, participants are selected based on their ability to collaborate, respond to custom project demands, and operate within shared standards—creating a cohesive system aligned with international project requirements.

Supported by institutions such as the Ministry of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Indonesia Design Development Centre, ITPC Milan, and the Embassy of Indonesia in Rome, the pavilion also serves as a platform for creative diplomacy and global market expansion.

Through the IDD Pavilion, Indonesia invites the world to experience a new narrative, where tradition and contemporary design come together to shape the future of global design.
