Scales of Light: A Pangolin Installation
Installation by UPH Interior Design Students at IDD
The Indonesia Design District (IDD) presents Scales of Light: A Pangolin Installation, a 1:1 spatial installation created by students from the Interior Design Department of Universitas Pelita Harapan. The installation is currently on display in front of the Townhall area at Indonesia Design District and will be available until 10 May 2026.
Inspired by the unique layered form of the pangolin, Scales of Light invites visitors to experience an immersive spatial atmosphere shaped through organic forms, textures, and the use of natural materials. More than a visual installation, the work explores how form, light, and materiality can influence the way people feel and interact within a space.
Through this installation, visitors are encouraged to walk through and engage directly with the structure, discovering changing perspectives, shadows, and spatial experiences created by the interplay of light and natural elements. The project reflects the students’ exploration of experiential design while highlighting the relationship between nature, architecture, and human interaction.
