Nila Baharuddin x Malinda Furniture Gallery: A Homecoming Through Design

More than a showcase, the collaboration highlights a shared appreciation for craftsmanship, design integrity, and cultural storytelling

Indonesian designer Nila Baharuddin presents “帰郷 ~Kikyō~ A Designer’s Homecoming”, an intimate showcase in collaboration with Malinda Furniture Gallery, held at Indonesia Design District (IDD) PIK 2. The event marks Nila’s creative return after a series of appearances across Japan, where she explored the intersection of culture, structure, and craftsmanship.

Rooted in the meaning of Kikyō—homecoming—the showcase reflects a meeting point between Japanese design sensibilities and Indonesian heritage. Through this collaboration, Malinda Furniture Gallery provides a refined spatial backdrop that enhances the narrative of the collection, allowing fashion and furniture to coexist naturally within one curated environment.

The collection features clean silhouettes, architectural forms, and thoughtful details inspired by Japanese aesthetics, paired with Indonesian textiles and artisanal techniques reinterpreted in a contemporary way. The result is a calm yet expressive lifestyle presentation that feels both personal and cross-cultural.

More than a showcase, the collaboration highlights a shared appreciation for craftsmanship, design integrity, and cultural storytelling. Together, Nila Baharuddin and Malinda Furniture Gallery create a lifestyle experience where fashion, space, and identity come together seamlessly at IDD.
